The National Sports Festival PON XX Papua in the Merauke Cluster has a positive impact on MSMEs in the Animha region. At least 164 SMEs were involved in the stand venue and in the exhibition arena during the PON.
The Head of Social Affairs, Yohanes Samkakai said, as the Head of the Socio-Economic Sub-Sector in the Merauke Cluster PON XX, his party has tried to embrace local MSMEs that have been running so far.
In addition, the Economics Sub-Sector also accommodates 100 MSME groups that are fostered by the Tourism Office, Industry and Cooperatives Service and SMEs.
In addition, the Merauke Regional Secretariat for Economic Affairs is also under the guidance of the Merauke Food Crops and Horticulture Service.
Hundreds of these MSME groups have been given coaching and some even received grants. So that it can help them in the development of their respective groups.
"These groups have been involved in the implementation of PON starting from the opening until now," he explained during a press conference at the Media Center Subda Merauke, Saturday, October 9, 2021.
MSMEs are involved with skills and products such as handicrafts, culinary, original eucalyptus oil from Merauke and genuine coconut oil.
The impact is clear, when many people visit, it will have an impact on the marketing of handicrafts and products from these SMEs.
He continued that the programs managed by the Social Service were ministry programs in the form of social assistance which were routinely carried out such as Family Hope Assistance (BKH), Food Social Assistance (BSP), Cash Social Assistance (BST), Prosperous Rice Assistance (Rastra) and other assistance originating from center.
Of all the assistance provided, some assistance was provided in the form of financial assistance, even to districts throughout Merauke. This assistance certainly has an impact on the community's economy.
Responding to this, the Head of the Merauke Regional Economic Division, Imam Santoso explained that when MSMEs are concentrated in one place at a time, the velocity of money is quite large, especially during PON activities.
"Because everything marketed is recorded, it will be known what was marketed and how much was sold. Even through PON activities, economic turnover in Merauke Regency can also be calculated on items such as lodging, transportation and so on," he explained.
Imam said transactions at the Merauke Cluster PON UMKM exhibition reached Rp. 82 million/day and it is targeted that there will be a sale and purchase worth around Rp.1 billion during the exhibition which will take place from 5 to 16 October.
"During the duration and end of this exhibition, it is expected that buying and selling transactions will reach approximately Rp. 1 billion," Imam hoped.
Imam, who is also the Secretary of the Sub-Sector of the Socio-Economic Division of PB PON XX Papua Merauke Cluster, said that this MSME exhibition is an empowerment development program, so it is hoped that it can improve the economy in Merauke Regency.
"Of course, for the empowerment of MSMEs, a coaching fund is provided by the Economic Sector in the amount of Rp. 10,550,000 for each MSME group. So that it can improve their economy," he said.
He added that other MSME empowerment efforts such as technical guidance were also given so that they could market their products offline and online.
"In this empowerment development, we collaborate with the creative house from Telkom, where they are taught how to move online, how they set their products, the goal is to sell online," he explained.
Later, after PON, the guidance and empowerment of Merauke MSMEs will be continued in the Merauke City Anniversary exhibition and other regional purposes. So that the income of Merauke SMEs continues to grow and advance.
The number of MSMEs recorded is 480 groups. However, only 164 are accommodated in PON. Due to limited space and some have not prepared their products. Others directly market around the PON venue.
According to Imam, the stimulus fund of Rp. 10,550,000 is expected to encourage MSME groups to increase their product yields and assist them in marketing.
In fact, technical guidance has been given in preparation for PON on how to offer its products. Become a salesperson for their products, as well as being a good host for their visitors.
