Two people suspected of being members of an armed criminal group were arrested at two different locations in Jayapura Regency, Papua, along with three firearms, Friday, September 3, 2021.
Director of the General Criminal Investigation of the Papua Regional Police, Commissioner of Police Faizal Rahmadani, in Jayapura, said the case was revealed after his apparatus studied the findings and at 10:00 WIT, Friday, they arrested GT in East Sentani. They also found firearms stored by GT by being planted in the Genyem area.
At around 13.55 WIT, the police again arrested another person, with the initials AT, in the Doyo area, Jayapura Regency.
"The examination of the two suspected members of the KKB from the Ilaga group," said Rahmadani, adding that the three firearms seized were individual assault rifles, SS-1 and M-16. In addition, five magazines were confiscated, although only three contained bullets.
"Members are still investigating to find out where the weapons came from and the funds to buy the firearms, considering that IDR 28 million was also confiscated from GT," he said.
