The Directorate General of Sea Transportation of the Ministry of Transportation through the Jayapura Class II Harbormaster and Port Authority (KSOP) continues to make efforts to optimize the sea highway program in Papua in order to achieve the main goal of the sea toll program which is to reduce price disparities in the region.
Head of the Jayapura Class II Harbormaster and Port Authority Office (KSOP Class II Jayapura) Taher Laitupa said his party as the coordinator of the ports area in Papua Province certainly cannot stand alone, there must be coordination and synergy with other parties, one of which is the Regional Police (Polda).
"Therefore, we conducted a socialization and hearing of the sea highway with the Papuan Police Chief Inspector General Matthew Fakiri," he said in a press release, Monday (19/4/2021).
He said the implementation of the sea highway in Papua is a manifestation of one of the visions of Indonesia's maritime axis. The sea toll road in the area is Route T-19 with the KM Logistik Nusantara 2 fleet.
“The presence of the Sea Toll Road in addition to reducing price disparities can also increase local production commodities and improve the regional economy. All of this can be realized if all parties join hands to synergize and coordinate, “he said.
Furthermore, he appreciated the implementation of the sea highway program in Papua. According to him, the sea highway can reach isolated areas in the 3TP area, such as in the mountains of Papua.
In view of this, Taher admitted that he would also support the optimization of the sea highway in Papua, especially in terms of distribution security.
"This will certainly be able to distribute logistics supplies smoothly for people in need and can reduce the price disparity that occurs in Papua and continue to support the process of implementing the sea highway in Papua," he concluded.
