Jayawijaya Regent, Jhon Richard Banua, said the local government is ready to welcome the implementation of the XX Papua PON fire parade which will be held on September 29, 2021.
The XX Papua PON fire carriage will stop in Wamena as a representative of the Lapago region, where the PON fire will later spend the night in Wamena. To check the preparations, Wednesday (15/9/2021), the regional government together with the forkopimda and the executive committee held a preparatory meeting at the regent's office.
"After coordinating with forkopimda and all parties and event organizers who will handle the carnival later, September 29 will be received and overnight, and September 30 will be released back to Merauke," said Banua.
To strengthen again, on D-7 there will be dirty rehearsals and D-1 clean rehearsals for PON fire pick-up, according to the established route. In addition, later implementation, will continue to comply with the health protocol which will involve the health team to oversee the implementation of the XX Papua PON fire carnival.
"Residents who wish to witness are also advised to adhere to health protocols, wear masks and not crowd. For the financing, it is entirely the responsibility of PB PON Papua," he said.
“At this PON fire parade there will also be an exhibition of cultural arts, some entertainment until the release back to Merauke.
Jayawijaya has also been prepared to exhibit handicrafts at the PON event later, but only at the opening and closing times, so we ask the PB PON so that the Jayawijaya special booth can take place during the PON performance, "said the regent.
Meanwhile, the organizer of the XX Jayawijaya PON fire parade, Leonard, said that the PON fire will arrive in Wamena on September 29, 2021 afternoon, after the trip from Timika.
"On arrival at Wamena Airport, the Head of UPBU Wamena and Wamena Airbase will hand over, then the PON fire will be paraded around Wamena City by involving a number of national athletes such as Benny Elopere, Yan Yogobi, Perina Karoba and badminton legend Hariawan Susanto."
