Trees are one of the sources of life that provide many benefits for the survival of creatures on earth, including producing oxygen, preventing soil erosion due to the rapid rate of water, maintaining soil fertility, and binding substances that pollute the air.
On the basis of concern for the condition of the surrounding environment, the Pamrahwan Task Force Yonif RK 751/VJS planted 70 merbau tree seedlings along the riverbanks of Kampung Walesi, Walesi District, Jayawijaya Regency, Papua, Sunday (22/8/2021).
This was conveyed by Dansatgas Pamrahwan Battalion RK 751/VJS Lt. Col. Inf. Dedy Dwi Cahyadi, SIP, in his statement.
Dansatgas said that the planting of 70 merbau tree seedlings was carried out by members of the Task Force Battalion RK 751/VJS Pos Walesi together with the people of Kampung Walesi to prevent landslides, because the soil on the edge of the river began to be eroded by erosion due to the swift current of the river.
"The activity of planting 70 merbau tree seedlings led by the Pamrahwan Task Force Territorial Section Officer (Pasiter) Battalion RK 751/VJS Letda Inf M. Ali Sirait received full support from the people of Kampung Walesi," said Dansatgas.
Separately, the Paser of the Task Force Battalion 751 Lieutenant Inf M. Ali Sirait said that the tree seed planting activity had been scheduled by the Task Force to local community leaders since 1 week ago.
"During today's implementation, people came in droves to help," explained the Task Force Territorial Officer.
Meanwhile, Walesi Community Leader H. Abu Hanifa Asso greatly appreciated the activities held by the Battalion Battalion RK 751/VJS Task Force, in this case the Walesi Post.
"I as a Walesi Community Leader strongly support the activities initiated by the Task Force because the area that is not overgrown with trees along the riverbank is prone to landslides if it is continuously eroded by water," said Abu.
