The Grand Committee for the National Sports Week or PB PON Papua has handed over the tasks of functions, responsibilities and budget for the implementation to the Sub-PB PON Merauke, at the Mercure Hotel Jayapura City, Saturday (26/6/21).
The budget shifted by PB PON to Sub PB PON Merauke amounted to Rp60 billion.
With the handover, the Merauke cluster then called for their readiness to make the XX PON event a success.
“For us, the people and the Government of Merauke Regency are ready and fully committed to organizing and succeeding the XX PON as part of the implementation of the PON in Papua. So if there is a language that PON is canceled in Merauke, it is a hoax. All levels of government and society as well as the TNI and Polri are ready 100 percent to make PON XX a success," said Deputy Chairperson of the Sub-PB PON Merauke, Antonius Kaize to reporters.
“People are waiting for when this party will start, and contingents will come from all over Indonesia. Let's all pray that the Covid-19 pandemic will pass quickly. We in Merauke are ready to make PON a success, so don't be afraid and worried," he continued.
Although he had gone through quite a tough discussion some time ago regarding the budget shift, Kaize stated that his party was ready and guaranteed that PON XX could run successfully in the Merauke cluster.
"We from the Merauke cluster still invite all parties to open their minds and support each other so that this PON can run successfully, PON is the pride of the Papuan people, and we must work hard and provide certainty so that PON can run smoothly. This is the time for us to celebrate a family party in the XX PON event," he said.
Meanwhile, Deputy Secretary II of PB PON for administration, Longginus Sangu said that after the transfer of program and budget shifts to Sub PB Merauke would be a new chapter and challenge for the Merauke cluster to prove themselves that they were ready to succeed PON XX.
“There are only 98 days left for PON XX and time is running out, therefore time management and financial resources must be managed properly. That is a challenge that we must overcome together. From the eastern horizon I am sure that success will definitely come,” he said.
The budget shift to Sub PB PON Merauke amounting to Rp60 billion does not include the fields of consumption, accommodation and human resources.
