A total of 217 of the 428 operational buses of PON XX and Peparnas XVI Papua 2021, began to be installed with GPS or the Global Positioning System in Jakarta on Monday (26/7/2021).

Jeri A. Yudianto, Head of the Papuan Information and Communications Office (Kominfo), said that the Indonesian Ministry of Transportation is now waiting for the remaining 211 buses.

He continued, to then carry out the installation of GPS with a target to be completed before August 21, 2021.

"Thus, if it goes according to plan, it is hoped that in early September, all operational PON buses will be in four clusters for PON XX," said Jeri through a press release received by Tribun-Papua.com, Tuesday (27/7/2021).

Jeri, who the day before with the Head of the Papuan Transportation Service, held a meeting with the Director General of Land Transportation of the Ministry of Transportation of the Republic of Indonesia accompanied by the Secretary General of Land Transportation of the Indonesian Ministry of Transportation in Jakarta.

During the meeting, he said, his party discussed the recruitment of drivers (from Papua) for 217 micro buss units from the Indonesian Ministry of Transportation.

According to him, Diskominfo has also directly checked the readiness of bus accessibility to support athletes with disabilities (Peparnas XVI).

"But specifically for the technical recruitment of drivers from Papua, they will be asked directly to the Head of the Papuan Transportation Service," he said.

Meanwhile, he continued, the GPS work process which includes installation and testing is estimated to take a maximum of 7 working days, for the 217 buses that were donated.

The existence of GPS is expected to be able to maximize land transportation services for athletes and officials, through the application system, during the implementation of PON XX and Peparnas XVI.

Meanwhile, 428 operational buses for PON and Peparnas Papua will be divided directly into four clusters from Jakarta, by sea.

Where for the Jayapura City and Regency clusters, 298 bus units are allocated.
