The increasing number of Covid-19 cases in Sorong City in the last few days cannot be separated from the lack of public awareness in implementing health protocols and adherence to the Emergency PPKM policy. Herman Syufi, who is the Head of the Indonesian Catholic Student Association/PMKRI Sorong, said that the current situation is that there are still many people who do not wear masks.
On the other hand, Herman assessed that the lack of knowledge and information in the community has caused many people to be less concerned and even indifferent to the current Covid-19 case. According to him, the socialization carried out by the Covid-19 task force was not as good as at the beginning of the Covid-19 outbreak.
"The public still lacks information so many don't believe it and don't even care about the Covid-19 case," said Herman.
He said that in the midst of the community there was a new problem due to this pandemic where the income from businesses affected by the PPKM policy decreased.
"We hope that the government can immediately find a solution for people who have lost their income, either by providing assistance or by providing rules that do not prohibit activities such as selling and opening shops," hoped Herman.
Herman said he would support the Covid 19 prevention and control policy in Sorong City.
"In addition, we will also urge the public to support the Covid 19 prevention policy by complying with health protocols such as using masks and maintaining distance," concluded Herman.
