Joint TNI-Polri officers are hunting for the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) led by Tendius Gwijangge alias Tendinus Murib who shot and held people hostage in Bingky Village, Yahukimo Regency, Papua. In the incident, four residents died.
"The TNI-Polri are currently pursuing them and will not remain silent about the incident," said Head of the Public Relations Division of the National Police Inspector General Raden Prabowo Argo Yuwono in his statement, Friday (6/25/2021).
In the period from January to June 2021, it was recorded that there had been security disturbances by the Papuan KKB which caused 18 deaths from the TNI-Polri and civilians. While 14 others were injured as a result of the attack by the separatist group.
"Measured decisive action will be taken against the group," said Argo.
Previously, there were shootings and hostage-taking of civilians who were construction workers by the Papuan Armed Criminal Group (KKB) in Bingky Village, Yahukimo Regency. In that incident, three residents died.
The Head of Public Relations of the Papua Police, Kombes Ahmad Musthofa Kamal, said that the incident occurred on Thursday, June 24, 2021, at 11.05 WIT.
"The perpetrator is suspected to be an Armed Criminal Group led by Tendius Gwijangge alias Tendinus Murib," said Kamal in his statement, Friday (6/25/2021).
The incident began when PT Sinama employees carried out construction activities for the Kali Kuk Bridge project in Samboga Village, Seradala District, Yahukimo Regency.
The victim with the initials S along with other employees took processed stone materials using a truck across the Kali I bridge in Samboga Village, Seradala District.
"After crossing the river I bridge, from the Kali Kuk Camp the victim was intercepted by the Kali I KKB group with a total of 30 people," Kamal explained.
The employees tried to escape by turning the vehicle back. However, KKB members immediately opened fire on the vehicles used by the victims.
"Due to this incident, the victim returned to his place of work at the PT Ceremony Kali Kuk Camp in Bingki Village to gather fellow employees and the people of Bingki Village," said Kamal.
Due to this incident, three victims died, two were injured, and four people were still being held hostage by KKB.
"The four people who were held hostage by KKB are still under further investigation," Kamal stressed.
