PT PLN (Persero) Customer Service Implementation Unit (UP3) Timika, Papua, has tested the operation of a number of electrical equipment to be installed in a number of PON XX Papua match venues.
Manager of PLN UP3 Timika Marthinus Irianto Pasensi in Timika, Monday (17/5/2021), said that since 2020 PLN Timika has received delivery of a number of equipment that will be used to support the reliability of electricity when facing the implementation of PON XX.
Such equipments include UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply), generators, mobile transformers, mobile cables, mobile substations and others.
23 units of mobile generator sets consist of 5 units of 500 KW, 8 units of 200 KW and 10 units of 100 KW, while 24 units of UPS mobile consists of 4 units with a capacity of 100 KVA and 20 units with a capacity of 40 KVA.
Currently, the equipment is still stored at PLTMG Pomako Timika.
"We plan every month to conduct commissioning tests for mobile generator sets as well as other equipment such as UPS, mobile cables and mobile substations. For the first phase we will conduct trials at the Eme Neme Yauware Timika Building which will be the location for the Judo and Tarung Drajat matches. After that we will try it at the Aero Modeling match in SP5, "explained Marthinus.
According to him, not all locations or match venues have had their electrical installation networks installed so that the testing of the equipment is only carried out in venues where the electricity network is ready.
At the time of testing the equipment, a power outage will occur in the XX PON arena.
Even though the Timika PLN electricity went out, the match continued because the UPS, which stored the electrical power, automatically functioned while turning on the generator engine.
Ahead of the XX Papua PON event which is scheduled to take place on 2-15 October 2021, the Central PLN Team which previously contributed to the success of the 2018 Jakarta-Palembang Asian Games will supervise Timika and Papua in general.
Marthinus added that his staff had twice written to the PB PON XX Papua Mimika Sub-Cluster regarding the readiness of electric power in each competition arena.
"We want to get certainty from the Sub PB PON at each venue, how much electricity is needed, how many are there, and how many still have to be prepared. Based on the information from the Mimika Sub PB PON, we will prepare the transformer and generator as much as needed in each venue, "explained Marthinus.
PLN Timika itself requires around 200 personnel who will maintain and operate all electrical facilities at each competition arena at the upcoming PON XX Papua.
"Until now, we are still waiting for one or two venues that have not connected the electricity network. We hope that this will be submitted as soon as possible so that we can immediately test the equipment that we have prepared according to the required power," hoped Marthinus.
