The death of two teachers in Papua was also responded to by the Indonesian Teachers Association (PGRI). PGRI strongly condemns the shooting which killed two teachers by an armed criminal group (KKB) in Papua, for two consecutive days. "For the umpteenth time, several teachers in conflict areas have again become victims of violence by KKB. We firmly decide on this action, ”said General Chairman of the PGRI Board of Directors, Unifah Rosyidi.
PGRI also deeply regrets the burning of three elementary school buildings (SD) Jambul, SMPN 1, and SMAN 1 Beoga, Puncak Papua. He emphasized that teachers are trainers of national civilization who devote themselves to educating the nation's generation, so that they must be protected in carrying out their duties, for that, he hopes that the state can be present through the central government, regional government, defense and security apparatus, community leaders (adat) to can provide protection for the safety of teachers. "Especially those who work in the interior which is currently sparked by conflict so that they can get guarantee for the safety of themselves, and their families," he said.
If the teacher feels uncertainty about the guarantee of safety in carrying out his duties, he continued, then ask for help from the central government and local governments to facilitate them. "That way their place of duty is safe and protected," he said.
He also hoped that God Almighty would always provide protection to teachers and all communities in conflict areas. Likewise, problems that occur in conflict areas, so that they can be resolved immediately and people return to live a quiet life in one beloved country house, namely Indonesia.
