The Papua Provincial Government (Pemprov) released 1,051 people who have been accepted for the Papua Special Autonomy (Otsus) scholarship.
These qualified participants are accepted at various educational institutions both domestically and abroad.
According to the Acting (Pj) Regional Secretary (Sekda) of Papua Province, Doren Wakerkwa, that this program aims to produce increased human resources (HR) and character development for Indigenous Papuans (OAP).
He explained that since this program was launched in 2009 until now it has produced at least a thousand graduates from various educational institutions.
"All of this is inseparable from the hard work and good performance of the organization managing scholarship programs and related agencies in the Papua Province as supporters," said Doren through his official statement in Jayapura.
Furthermore, according to Doren, OAP who graduated from overseas educational institutions with different education levels, namely 7 people from S3, 22 S2, 148 S1, 9 D3 students, and 132 high school students.
In addition, there are also 4 graduates of pilot or flight licenses abroad, 24 people who are accepted in the cooperation of the S2-S3 BIT LPDP pathway, and as many as 4 people who receive short course funding for the State Civil Service Apparatus (ASN).
Doren said that the Papua Provincial Government is currently continuing the scholarship program through the Special Autonomy fund, by financing 1,236 students who are still active in various universities both at home and abroad.
Furthermore, he conveyed that thanks to cooperation with foreign education, the Papua Provincial Government received grant assistance in the form of 70 ventilator units to be used for hospitals throughout the Papua Province.
"It has been received and distributed for use in hospitals throughout Papua Province for the treatment of Covid-19 patients," said the Papua Provincial Secretary.
In line with the statement of the Head of the Papua Province Human Resources Development Agency (BPSDM), Aryoko AF Rumaropen, who said that many students who have graduated from various universities through the Otsus scholarship program have served in various government agencies.
One of them, said Aryoko, worked at the Land Agency office and government offices as well as in private companies in Papua.
