This was conveyed by the XVIII Pangdam / Kasuari Maj. Gen. TNI I Nyoman Cantiasa, SE, M.Tr. (Han), in his presentation at the Coordination Meeting (Rakor) for the implementation of the 2020 Pilkada for West Papua Province, at the Arfak Convention Hall Polda West Papua, Maripi, Manokwari.
Starting his presentation, the Pangdam said that the region of West Papua Province ahead of the 2020 Regional Elections is still in a conducive and safe situation and conditions. The preparatory stages for the simultaneous regional elections during the Covid-19 pandemic are running normally as scheduled by the KPUD and Bawaslu.
Furthermore, it was revealed that the role of the XVIII / Kasuari Kodam, among others, was to carry out assisting operations in accordance with applicable procedures and mechanisms as well as to maintain and increase the synergy and solidity of the TNI-Polri at all levels.
"As long as the pandemic is still ongoing, the health protocol is a fixed price, so it is hoped that the 2020 Pilkada can be held on December 9, 2020, of course with the condition that the health protocol must be implemented properly and strictly," he explained again.
For this reason, the recommendations given are the declaration of the Covid-19 peaceful and safe Pilkada, restrictions on open campaigns and switching to virtual campaigns, restrictions on mass gathering and minimizing banners, and baleho.
"It must also be compiled Standard Operation Procedure (SOP) in the implementation of Pilkada during the Covid-19 pandemic, regulating polling stations based on health protocols (washing hands and disinfectants), keeping distance and wearing masks, and the need for strict sanctions for protocol violators. health at the Pilkada stage simultaneously, "he said.
