The pros and cons of the Otsus problem in Papua which is about to run out are still rolling in the midst of society, many people think that Otsus has failed and some even think it is successful.
According to a religious figure as well as a female figure in Skanto District, Keerom Regency, Reverend Merry Lauren Wompere assessed that the revolving Otsus fund and policies have had a very positive impact throughout Papua, both in human resources and in the development sector.
"I am the Pastor of the GKI Solagratia Congregation, Jaifuri, we sincerely hope that Otsus Papua will continue for the sake of development and progress in Papua. Those who reject Papua's Special Autonomy do not represent the voice of the Papuan people at all, "Merry explained.
Meanwhile, related to groups that oppose Otsus and think that Otsus is a failure, said Merry, there are only a few people for personal gain.
"Who said that Otsus failed, it was only an assessment of certain individuals who could not represent the Papuan people in general. Otsus has succeeded in bringing about change, ”he said.
He also considered that if in the future Otsus ended, then Papua would be left behind.
"We hope that the APBD and APBN means that development will be difficult, especially in mountain areas. So Otsus is one of the right steps. Meanwhile, the policies will also have an impact on indigenous people. Therefore, we support Otsus to continue with a note that there must be a re-evaluation, "he said.
