The IRJ building in Jayapura Regional Hospital is converted into an emergency room to handle Covid-19 patients |
The Papua Provincial Government has decided to change the function of the Outpatient Installation (IRJ) of Jayapura Hospital, to become an emergency unit (UDG), in order to maximize services to non-Covid-19 patients.
The decision was taken by the Deputy Governor of Papua Klemen Tinal, after a coordination meeting on patient referral issues in Jayapura City and the performance of health services during the Covid-19 pandemic, at Swisbel Hotel Jayapura, Monday (6/29/2020).
"We will open soon for the new IRJ building in Jayapura Regional Hospital, now handling emergency room patients for non-Covid-19 patients. So there is a balance of health services for Covid-19 patients and other patients, "explained Deputy Governor Klemen Tinal.
As for the old emergency room building, he continued, will focus on serving Covid-19 patients. It's just that for OTG patients (people without symptoms) and PDP (Patients Under Supervision) the plan will be shifted to Jayapura Hote Sahid or independent isolation in their respective homes.
"So that later patients treated at Jayapura Regional Hospital UDG are positive Covid-19 patients who need treatment," he said.
As for other hospitals, the Deputy Governor of Klemen requested immediate improvement in preparing services for non-Covid-19 patients. As for the shortcomings and obstacles faced by hospitals, he made sure the Papua Provincial Government was ready to provide support.
"So later if there is a hospital that lacks water supply, we will write to the PDAM so that we can deal with the problem. While there are also hospitals which lack accommodations or rooms, we will try to back up ”.
"The point in Jayapura is that only Abepura Hospital is serving Covid-19 Patients. The others continue to handle Covid-19 and non-Covid-19. But we also have to remember there are private hospitals that have operational procedures from management in dealing with patients. Even so, the Papua Provincial Government is building communication so that health services will continue to run well, "he concluded.
