Supporting the food security program during the Covid-19 pandemic, Biak Numfor Regional Police through the City Biak Sector Police made use of vacant land in the Mako Polsek area to grow various types of vegetables and freshwater fish farming.
The activity was led directly by the AKP City Biak Police Chief Teguh Santoso, SE. He said the land was planted with various types of vegetables including string beans, cucumbers, eggplants, watermelons, bitter melons, lettuce, tomatoes, rica beans, water spinach, sledri, ginger and papaya and for freshwater fish cultivation there were 500 tilapia fish and around 1000 more are still in the form of seeds.
"This is one of our activities on the sidelines of carrying out basic duties as a National Police, by utilizing vacant land in the Mako Polsek area to support food security during the Covid-19 pandemic as it is today," AKP Teguh Santoso, SE said when met Biak Numfor Police Public Relations, Tuesday (07/14/2020).
Responding to food security efforts made by its personnel, Police Chief of Biak Numfor AKBP Murjatmo Edi, SIK., SH expressed his appreciation for the tenacity and persistence in utilizing vacant land to maintain food security during the Covid-19 Pandemic.
"With the concern of the National Police in maintaining food security in their respective environments not only provides benefits for themselves but also for the surrounding residents, we also hope and invite the community to participate in supporting food security by utilizing vacant land around their homes," said AKBP Murjatmo.
The Chief of Police added that this was a step by the National Police, especially Biak Numfor Police, in dealing with the adaptation of new habits in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic.
