Papuan Academics: The Free Learning Program is Suitable for Implementation in the Highlands of Papua

The Free Learning Program initiated by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbudristek) is considered suitable or very appropriate to be applied in the mountainous region of Papua.

Launching Antara, this was conveyed by an academic from Jayawijaya Regency, Papua Province, Marthen Medlama, in his official statement in Wamena, Sunday, June 26, 2022p

Marthen said that the Free Learning Program was very appropriate to be implemented in the mountainous region of Papua.

This is because the Papuan mountain community in general will catch it quickly if learning is carried out with practice.

"I always say in my writings and presentations that if you teach mountain people, it's better to practice. If it's just theory, it's slow. People here are good at practice, they immediately understand very well," said Marthen, quoted from Antara, Sunday, June 26, 2022. night.

He also gave an example that some children from the mountains of Papua can fly planes because they practice directly.

"Our brothers and sisters don't go to pilot school, they can take planes because of direct practice and that must be applied here and the Vocational Schools here are great, they have started well," he explained.

Besides that, that teacher of Agamua Stimik
added that vocational high schools (SMK) in the region had implemented the Independent Learning Program.

"I see many vocational schools with good dual system education (PSG), this is what we call independent learning, they immediately enjoy the learning process in the field," he said.

"So they know how the government works. For example, if he is PSG in offices. In the world of work, they immediately see it there," he continued.
