The Forum for the Acceleration of the Formation of new autonomous regions throughout the Tabi Region, urged the Indonesian House of Representatives to immediately ratify the Draft Law (RUU) for the expansion of Papua Province into law.
"We ask that the Papua Expansion Bill be ratified immediately, according to the bill that has been determined without the need for further tweaking, because this bill has been reviewed from various aspects, namely academic texts, accelerated development, fiscal readiness and others," said the Chair of the Forum for the Acceleration of Formation. DOB in the Tabi Region, Yulianus Dwaa, SKM and Secretary Marthinus Mandawally, SSI, after a meeting at Bangi Kopi Tiam, Abepura, Jayapura City, Sunday (26/6/2022).
Also present were representatives of the communities whose territories were expanded, community leaders, religious leaders, traditional leaders, women's leaders, youth leaders and students throughout the Tabi area, namely Sarmi, Keerom, Jayapura Regency, Jayapura City.
It is known that the Indonesian House of Representatives has enacted 3 bills for new autonomous regions in Papua, the Bill on the Establishment of the Province of South Papua, the Bill on the Formation of the Province of Central Papua, and the Bill on the Formation of the Province of Papua in the Central Mountains.
This statement of attitude is planned to be submitted to Commission II of the Indonesian House of Representatives and the Ministry of Home Affairs in Jakarta this week.
Dwaa explained, referring to the dynamics of new autonomous regions in Papua, specifically in the Tabi region, the Forum for the Acceleration of the Formation of new autonomous regions throughout the Tabi Region conveyed several statements of attitudes from various components of society.
First, we support the statement of the Presidium Council of the Tabi Indigenous People's Center (DEMATA) on June 15, 2022, which stated that it fully supports the Gunung Bintang Regency remaining within the parent province of Papua (Tabi/Saereri).
Second, from the aspect of access to smooth development, economic progress, education and welfare, the Gunung Bintang district would be younger and faster if it remained in the parent province of Papua.
Third, the formation of new autonomous regions in Papua should be carried out in the perspective of the unity of the Papuan people and the acceleration of development towards the independence and welfare of the Papuans.
Fourth, urging the ratification of Regency/City DOB in the parent province that has received a bill, so that 3 bills for the expansion of Papua are stipulated no later than 17 August 2022 as a gift for the 77th Republic of Indonesia's Independence Day in 2022.
Each candidate for Grime Nawa Regency, Ketengban Regency Candidate, Lembah Rupaer Regency Candidate, East Bonggo Regency Candidate, Yafti Regency Candidate and others who have received the Bill.
Fifth, appreciate the President of the Republic of Indonesia and Commission II of the DPR RI for enacting the Special Autonomy Law which mandates the formation of new autonomous regions or the division of Provinces and Regencies/Us in Article 76 of the Special Autonomy Law.
