Papua Provincial Government Encourages Puskesmas to Open 24 Hours Services |
During the Covid-19 pandemic in Papua, health services in all hospitals experienced a significant increase.
As a result of these surges, many people have complained of being rejected by patients from a number of hospitals to the point of death, due to late treatment.
Responding to that, Assistant II for Economic Affairs and Welfare of the Regional Secretary of Papua Muhammad Musa'ad accompanied by the Head of the Papua Provincial Health Office Roby Kayame visited Jayapura Regional Hospital on Monday (6/29/2020) evening.
The Jayapura RSUD medical staff were also asked for information about services to an accident victim who reportedly was refused by five hospitals (including Jayapura Regional Hospital), until finally he died.
"From the explanation of Jayapura Hospital medical officers, they did not refuse. There was already treatment for victims, only at that time because the bed was full so emergency treatment was carried out on the floor ”.
"The patient's family refused, so Jayapura Hospital made communication with the objected family and then referred it to another hospital," he explained.
Therefore, Musa'ad asked Puskesmas in Kota and Kabupaten Jayapura to start opening health services for 24 hours.
"Because the burden at Jayapura Hospital is too heavy, because all patients come to this hospital. Therefore, we hope that the health centers in the city of Jayapura, including those in Jayapura Regency, can function 24 hours ".
"Because it is not possible for all patients to be hospitalized. But maybe also because the community already believes Jayapura Hospital, to the point that it only hurts the flu or stomach, go to Jayapura Regional Hospital, "he said.
However, he appreciated the medical staff at Jayapura Regional Hospital who had provided maximum health services to the community. Even a number of health services were carried out in a tent.
"This indicates that health services are taken seriously," he said.
While the Head of the Papua Provincial Health Office Roby Kayame appealed to the community to make the Puskesmas as the spearhead of health care. Because health services at the Puskesmas are good enough now.
