Online Based Education Has Become a Need in Jayapura

Jayapura Regent Mathius Awoitauw hopes that online-based education services are no longer considered a temporary need but have become needs that must be met.

Mathius in Sentani said, education services in Jayapura Regency must be adjusted and directed towards IT-based services.

"The COVID-19 pandemic situation is changing the whole structure of life. Including education services, which now do not have to meet face-to-face but through the internet, can answer needs during a pandemic," he said.

He hopes that learning through the internet will become a necessity that must be fulfilled, not because of the plague but in the future must implement online education.

The regent asked the teachers to adjust to the current conditions so that education services for students in Jayapura Regency continued to run optimally even though they did not have to face-to-face in the classroom.

However, the Regent admitted that not all regions in Jayapura Regency were now served by the internet network. To overcome this problem, his party has another option so that people in rural or remote areas remain served during the COVID-19 pandemic, namely by maximizing radio.

"We maximize radio, cable TV programs also for urban areas. The government wants these students not to be too affected," he said.

He added that not all internet service programs in the suburbs to the interior were served. Even so, the Jayapura Regency Office of Communication and Information has already installed internet wizard networks in several schools.
