Cenderawasih Regional Police Chief Commands Lead Law Enforcement Operations in Papua |
Papua Regional Police Chief Inspector General Paulus Waterpauw and Pangdam XVII / Cenderawasih Maj. Gen. Herman Asaribab were appointed to be responsible for security as well as in the context of law enforcement operations in the Land of Papua. This decision was made after a limited meeting.
"Yesterday we held a limited meeting with the highest leadership in Jakarta. Hereby, the Coordinating Minister for Politics and Security of the Republic of Indonesia decided that the Regional Police Chief and the Regional Military Commander were appointed to be responsible for security as well as for law enforcement operations in the Land of Papua," said Papua Regional Police Chief Inspector General Paulus Waterpauw, Saturday (2/5) / 2020).
With the new assignment given to the Papua Regional Police Chief and the XVII / Cenderwasih Military Commander, the two leaders visited Wamena, Jayawijaya Regency, Saturday (2/5), to conduct socialization while ensuring the condition of the members during the Corona virus spread.
"Today I am with the Military Commander XVII / Cenderawasih present here (Wamena) in the briefing activities to TNI-Polri soldiers in Jayawijaya Regency. We as leaders of the unit want to see TNI / Polri Soldiers in Jayawijaya Regency," he said in his direction.
The Papua police chief recalls the question of cooperation and synergy between members of the TNI and Polri. Furthermore, the former North Sumatra Police Chief gave a warning also related to the Corona virus outbreak where the Mimika Regency was quite significant in its development, as well as Merauke, Keerom, Jayapura, and Nabire Regencies.
"Every TNI-Polri security post around the district always checks the people who are passing the post on foot in order to be able to cut off the entry of the spread of COVID-19," he said.
"Members must always pay attention to the distribution of food assistance distributed to the public properly, must be able to know the amount of distribution and the target and the goods must be checked again for the goods to be accepted by the community," he added.
Waterpauw also reminded members of the Indonesian National Police and TNI soldiers to jointly provide security to the community, especially during the COVID-19 period. Meanwhile, Pangdam Maj. Gen. Herman Asaribab ordered members of the TNI-Polri to work together in combating the spread of COVID-19. Government rules must be obeyed.
"Right now we are facing the Corona virus outbreak (COVID-19), for that we must work together in an effort to combat, prevent the spread of COVID-19, by limiting the activities of the crowd, carrying out social distancing / physical distancing as per government regulations," Herman Asaribab said .
Maj. Gen. Herman Asaribab also reminded again about the incident at Mamberamo Raya. He did not want a similar incident to be repeated.
"Events like this should not be repeated, therefore maintaining the synergy of the TNI-Polri in communication, joint activities and mutual care in every implementation in the field so that everything runs safely and smoothly," said Pangdam.
