Boost Papua Tourism Through Sport Tourism

As the biggest multi-sport event in Indonesia, the success of PON can have a positive impact in various sectors, especially tourism.

XX National Sports Week (PON) event in Papua is one of the top priorities for the Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora) Zainudin Amali.

In addition to developing the seeds of the country's athletes, the PON event can boost tourism figures through sport tourism which will bring Indonesia's image as an organizer on the international scene.

It is hoped that in the future Indonesia can be increasingly considered as the host of the 2032 Olympics. However, this cannot be realized without the support of relevant line ministries and institutions.

The importance of this cooperation was conveyed by the Minister of Youth and Sports Expert in the Creative Economy Jonni Madrizal at the Intelligence Function Coordination Meeting, Bandung, Thursday (02/13/2020).

"This is all to accelerate support in organizing the PON XX and the XVI Paralympics of Indonesia (Peparnas) in Papua," said Jonni.

Presidential Instruction (Inpres) on accelerating the support of the implementation of PON by 28 institutions including ministries, local government to the Indonesian National Police to ensure security.

"This also follows up the direction of the Minister of Youth and Sports Zainudin Amali so that the relevant ministries or institutions take steps according to their respective duties, functions and authorities in a coordinated and integrated manner," concluded Jonni.
