A young Papuan leader, Jhon Mokay, is suspicious of Lukas Enembe's legal team's request to the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) to allow his client to return to Singapore for treatment. The secretary of the Barisan Rakyat Cares for the Archipelago (Barapen) Papua thinks the request for a permit is part of Lukas Enembe's efforts to buy time to complete the alleged corruption case that has so far ensnared him.
"So this is it, he (Lukas Enembe) said he wanted treatment, these are old ways to buy time. So, I think the KPK must act quickly in responding to this. Don't let him stall for time later colliding with the election party (democratic party) 2024), Pilkada, general election," said Jhon in Jayapura, Friday (16/12).
Jhon's concern is that if the case of Papua's number one person is not resolved immediately, in the next 5 to 6 months, Papua will be very preoccupied with election affairs. Moreover, in Papua there are already three new provinces resulting from division. It will open up the possibility of intervention by political parties which could take advantage of the Lukas Enembe case for the benefit of the election of governors, district heads, and the election of members of the legislature for the DPR, DPD, and the election of people's representatives in the regions. "I'm afraid there will be intervention from the supporting political parties to use this opportunity, to negotiate, maybe so," said the former 2009 Magelang Military Academy (Akmil) student in a written statement, Saturday (17/12).
Because of this, Jhon urged the anti-corruption agency to continue to massively collect evidence and investigate people within the Governor's power of Papua who have been aware of Lukas' activities in managing development funds in Papua Province. The young man who was born in Kampung Yahim, Sentani, hopes that the KPK will not give permission for Lukas to seek treatment in Singapore, because he believes there are many hospitals in the country that are capable of treating Luke's illness. Even in Papua itself, there are hospitals with good facilities.
"As for the Governor's permission to go to Singapore for treatment, I don't think it's necessary. There are also many hospitals here in Jayapura. There is the DOK II Hospital, there is also the Provita Hospital, Abepura Hospital which has the same standard facilities as in Java, there in Singapore. Moreover, the Director of DOK II Hospital is also Luke's personal doctor," said Jhon.
Jhon also has other concerns regarding Lukas' request for treatment in Singapore. Even though the Indonesian government and the DPR are seriously discussing the ratification of the Indonesia-Singapore extradition treaty, the process still needs time to be effective. Jhon is worried that Lukas is using him to escape from the corruption case that is ensnaring him.
"I don't think there is a collusion, there are other intentions. I'm afraid, by reason of being sick, he (Luke) could flee abroad. For example (last year) because he (Luke) said he was sick, he ran through rat roads (illegal trips) ) to a neighboring country (Papua New Guinea) until finally being deported back here (Papua)," said Jhon.
