The District Government (Pemkab) of Jayapura, Papua Province appreciates the Noken Farmer group assisted by the Unurum Guay Police for supporting government programs related to food security.

Head of the Jayapura Regency Food Crops and Horticulture Agency David Anjang Zakaria in a press release received by Antara in Jayapura, Saturday, said that with the results planted by the noken farmer group for six months, the harvest has been big.

"So we express our gratitude to the noken farmer group assisted by the Unurum Guay Police for carrying out this great harvest," he said.

He explained that his party hopes that in the future the cooperation between the regional government and the TNI-Polri will be further enhanced in order to provide assistance to farmer groups in the region.

The commodities grown by the noken farmer group include cassava, sweet potato, field rice, peanuts and bananas on an area of two hectares.

Meanwhile, Unurum Guay Police Chief Iptu Usman Talib said his party provided assistance to farmer groups for six months.

The assistance, he said, started from the provision of seeds to the planting process on the specified land.

"This is a program of enhanced routine activities or KRYD for farmer groups," he said.

He explained that his party hopes that in the future other farmer groups in Jayapura Regency will be able to produce superior food commodities to be later marketed through Village-Owned Enterprises that are formed in each village.

"Because then it will be an added value in improving the economy of the group and also the family," he said.
