Papuan Leader Affirms Lukas Enembe Opens Large Tribal Heads in Papua That Must Be Protected

There are several things that have become the basis for a number of people who until now still insist on supporting the Governor of Papua, Lukas Enembe as an innocent person even though he has been named a suspect by the KPK. A number of these things are divided into several underlying contexts, namely political, economic, to cultural. Regarding power and position, there is a link between political and economic contexts. Meanwhile, local wisdom and customs underlie the cultural context where Lukas Enembe 'as if' is portrayed as the leader of the Papua region. So that a number of people then believe in protecting whatever happens to their leader. As is the case at this time a number of people are still gathered around the governor's residence.

The claim that Lukas Enembe as a leader who was later considered 'holy' innocent and above the law has violated the basic rules in Indonesia as a state of law. That everyone has the same position in the eyes of the law is then tried to be eliminated by supporters and sympathizers who try to continue to condition it. The opinion that Papua only has one big tribal chief like Lukas Enembe was deliberately built to make the Papuan people a shield to fortify the governor who is increasingly disobeying the KPK's call.

Affirmation that Lukas Enembe is not the Chief of the Papuan Tribe

The existence of a misguided condition that was deliberately exploited by Lukas Enembe's side invites concern for some Papuan people who are aware and critical of this matter. The chairman of the Jayapura Youth Movement, Jack Puraro, in his statement, emphasized that Lukas Enembe was not the chief of a large tribe in Papua as claimed by a group of people who had been supporting him. Papua does not only belong to one tribe. In fact, each tribe has a traditional apparatus that is structured in a traditional leadership system, in which there are Ondofi, the Chief of the Tribe, the Head of Kerep, to the messengers. He also explained that the Customary Council in Tabi land whose territory includes Jayapura Regency, Jayapura City, Keerom Regency, and Sarmi Regency, has never given legitimacy to Lukas Enembe as a tribal chief in Papua, or appointed Lukas Enembe as a tribal chief. He asked all parties not to build or lead the opinion that Papua has one big tribal chief like Lukas Enembe, this opinion has actually been used to hinder the KPK investigation process.

One of the reasons for the existence of people still on guard at Lukas Enembe's house has an emotional connection with the governor. Nevertheless, it is hoped that they will not hinder the KPK's task of examining Lukas, and not interfere with the safety and comfort of the people who inhabit the Tabi customary land area. Lukas Enembe is expected to be responsible for all his actions so that the problems of corruption cases are immediately resolved and the public can calm down. The delay in the investigation process so far is probably because there are inputs from people around who are rejecting the KPK's decision.

Papuan Indigenous Peoples and KPK One Voice Support the Legal Process of Luke Enembe

The governor's absence regarding the summons from the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) led to a response from indigenous peoples to speak up. The head of Indigenous Waris from Keerom, Papua, Gasper May asked the Papuan people to support the KPK in processing the alleged corruption case of the Governor of Papua Lukas Enembe. The public must respect and trust in the legal process. If Luke is innocent, then the truth will surely come out. The same thing was conveyed by the Mountain Youth Leader, Akila Wenda, who hoped that Lukas would dare to face the legal process voluntarily to the KPK to provide information to investigators. The KPK several times sent a summons to Lukas to be investigated as a suspect in a corruption case. However, Luke was never present with the excuse of being sick. In fact, the KPK also summoned Luke's wife and children, but they were not present.

Meanwhile, a youth leader and former chairman of the Student Executive Board (BEM) of Cendrawasih University, Erik Makabori, also appealed to the people in Papua not to be led by personal interests in defending the Governor of Papua Lukas Enembe. The case against the governor must be resolved legally. Erik hopes that the Papuan people will not get involved in the chaos and continue to maintain the peaceful situation in Papua. He urged the KPK to immediately resolve the case. The examination of Lukas Enembe is the responsibility of the state and the government must be wise and committed to eradicating corruption in Papua.

Luke Enembe's Absence Will Lead to Forced Pick Up

The absence of the governor in two summons, coupled with the absence of his wife, Yulce Wenda and Luke Enembe's son, Astract Bona Timoramo in the capacity as witnesses, will lead to the KPK's efforts to forcibly pick him up.

The KPK, through the Head of the News Section, Ali Fikri, stated that he would make a second summons to his wife and children. If the family does not respect the ongoing legal process, they will be threatened with being picked up by force. If later after the second summons does not come, then the KPK will take the next legal step in accordance with the mechanisms and legal provisions.

As an educated person, Lukas Enembe should be able to carry out his responsibilities to come to the KPK. The use of community loyalty in the name of culture and customs and the perpetuation of reasons for illness will one day only have an impact on oneself. Sooner or later, Lukas Enembe and his family will be investigated by the KPK. A large number of figures and the public have been critical of supporting the KPK's performance to immediately investigate the governor.
