The Indonesian Post Office, Manokwari Branch, West Papua, distributed basic supplies to the community as an effort by the government to reduce the impact of rising fuel prices.
Head of the Manokwari Branch Post Office, Johannes Kesaulija in Manokwari, West Papua, Monday, explained that postal officers had visited hundreds of homes to deliver food packages in Padarni Village, West Manokwari District, since Saturday (3/9/2022).
"In Padarni Village, the target is there are 526 families (KK) recipients of assistance, of which people with disabilities take precedence," he said.
According to him, the officers delivered the food packages directly to the beneficiaries so that the implementation of the distribution of basic food items could be monitored properly and to avoid any possible fraud.
In addition to Padarni Village, the Manokwari Post Office will distribute basic necessities in Amban Village, West Manokwari District, on Tuesday (6/9/2022).
Johannes said the provision of basic food assistance was still running smoothly and there had been no significant obstacles. However, he suspects that there will be a setback in the schedule for the distribution of aid because the time limit set by the Ministry of Social Affairs is too short.
"The schedule is from August 31 to September 9 2022, while in West Papua the area of the Manokwari Branch Post Office extends to the Arfak Mountains Regency, Bintuni Bay Regency, and Wondama Bay Regency, so that might be an obstacle," said Johannes.
Meanwhile, he admitted that he was still waiting for implementation instructions in the distribution of BBM direct cash assistance (BLT) even though initially the instructions for providing assistance were already in place, but there were still obstacles in the recipient's data causing the delivery of BLT BBM to be delayed.
