The Jayapura City Government (Pemkot) through the Jayapura City Fisheries Service is optimistic that in 2022 the production of captured fish and aquaculture will increase.
This was conveyed by the Head of the Jayapura City Fisheries Service, Matheys Sibi to Tribun-Papua.com in Jayapura, Friday (2/9/2022).
"If we look at the productivity of captured fish and aquaculture, we must be optimistic that there must be an increase in 2022, the percentage will increase by 5 percent, you can say that," he said.
His party continues to strive to boost the productivity of the fishermen of Jayapura City, by handing over the assistance of surface nets some time ago to indigenous Papuan fishermen (OAP).
"The assistance was handed over to those in Nafri Village and Holtekamp Village," he said.
Matheys said that the provision of fishing equipment (API) in the form of surface nets aims to assist OAP fishermen in catching fish according to their authority for small fishermen under 2 miles.
"With our efforts, of course, we hope to be able to boost fisheries productivity with good quality fresh fish," he assured.
Previously, it was known that the Jayapura City Fisheries Service had reached 2,139 fishermen through three superior fishermen empowerment programs so far.
The flagship programs are the development of capture fisheries, aquaculture, and strengthening the competitiveness of fishery products.
