The Head of the Jayawijaya Regency Culture and Tourism Office, Engelbert Sorabut, said that the Jayawijaya Regency Government planned to hold the 2022 Baliem Valley Cultural Festival (FBLB) in Wosi, after temporarily halting the festival due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
According to him, FBLB is planned to be held in August as in previous years.
“The Regent said that this year we are conducting a special FBLB for wars. Our budget has been prepared and conveyed, but we are waiting for the regent's decision," he said in Wamena recently.
After there was a decision from the regional head regarding the holding of the festival, he said, the Culture and Tourism Office would start promoting FBLB to domestic and foreign tourists.
"If the costs are there, we just have to work," he said.
The Jayawijaya Regency Culture and Tourism Office proposes to allocate funds of Rp. 3 billion to Rp. 5 billion, for the holding of the Baliem Valley Cultural Festival.
"Because this year only wars are planned, different from previous years which have a lot of activities," said Engelbert.
He added that the manager of a tourist attraction in Jayawijaya also plans to hold a mini festival in Wosi.
"In August they will do it but it's from the manager of the tourist attraction, we just encourage it. Regarding the costs and all that stuff from themselves," he said.
