The chairman of the Working Committee of Commission 2 of the DPR RI, Ahmad Doli Korniawan Tandjung, stated that regarding the discussion of the draft law on the formation of the PPS, in principle the draft law, article by article, the body had been agreed. However, his party still wants to hear input and direct aspirations from the community so that they return to visit Merauke Regency, Friday (24/6).
“Alhamdulillah, we are able to meet the people in Merauke again and I applaud the enthusiasm of the people, not only in welcoming PPS but also being productive in conveying some inputs. Among them is a strong desire to progress and the community can prosper, without forgetting existing principles such as customs and the existence of indigenous Papuans to manage Papuan land, that is the most important thing," he explained to reporters in the auditorium of the Merauke Regent's Office.
It was explained that at a leadership meeting some time ago at the DPR RI, he directly requested that the agenda for the ratification of the three provincial expansion bills be included in the plenary meeting on 30 June 2022 and this proposal has also been agreed.
“Please pray for your blessing so that there will be no further changes on June 30. So far, thank God, the process has been pretty smooth,” he explained. According to him, the discussion on the division of the province is a long journey, especially for PPS it will take up to 20 years. Issues related to the expansion have also continued to emerge in recent times.
Commission 2 over the past 2 years has also held dozens of RDPU working meetings and received Papuan people who came to convey ideas. It's just that formally, the embryo of the formation of a concrete province during the discussion of the Papua Special Autonomy Law volume 2.
"I often say that this is a final maturation process until a political decision and a legal decision becomes a law," he stressed.
After the law was passed, his party had asked the Minister of Home Affairs to coordinate with the regional government to prepare a work plan until an acting regional head was appointed.
