PLN Main Unit for Papua and West Papua Region (UIW PPB) utilizes 28 tons of waste from burning coal or Fly Ash Bottom Ash (FABA) from the Holtekamp Steam Power Plant (PLTU) as building material for aid houses for the Koran and Marbot Ar-Razaq, Selayar Village. , Jayapura City.
General Manager of PLN Main Unit for Papua and West Papua Region Moch. Andy Adchaminoerdin in a press release to Antara in Jayapura, Friday, said that through the Baitul Maal Foundation (YBM) PLN, building assistance worth Rp. 298.60 million was given to the management of Musala Ar-Razaq to support children's Koran activities.
"We are working with the Regional Military Command (Kodam) XVII/Cenderawasih, as many as 1,500 bricks made from a mixture of FABA were printed to be used as building materials," he said.
According to Andy, this work was carried out within a month, the house measuring 8x9 meters was completed.
"This assistance is PLN's effort to assist the surrounding community in fulfilling their religious needs," he said.
He explained that PLN is also committed to continuing to develop innovations in the use of processed power plant waste as an effort to maintain the balance of the ecosystem in the environment.
Proper processing of FABA waste, he added, will produce useful derivative products such as paving blocks, bricks and cast materials. The use of processed PLTU waste is also considered more economical because it can reduce development costs by up to 30 percent.
Meanwhile, Deputy Mayor of Jayapura City, Rustan Saru, expressed his appreciation for PLN and various parties who took part in the development process.
"It is extraordinary that the steam-powered Holtekamp Power Plant can produce FABA which is very useful, previously this FABA was considered waste but it can be used properly, one of which is by the Kodam to make brick roads and bricks," he said.
