The Jayawijaya Regional Government (Pemda) held a briefing for prospective Papuan contract teachers in 2022 at the Ukumiarek Asso Building, Wamena, Wednesday (27/4/2022).
This briefing was led directly by the Regent of Jayawijaya, Jhon Richard Banua, SE, MSi to 150 prospective contract teachers and 50 teachers from the Smart Indonesia program.
These 150 newly recruited teachers, together with 50 teachers from Indonesia Cerdas who first collaborated with the Jayawijaya regional government, will be placed in schools that have had a shortage of teachers, such as schools in rings 3 and 4.
"Because many of our teachers have retired and there are not enough ASN teachers, we have recruited 150 teachers who are native to the region to be placed in schools that need teachers," said the Jayawijaya Regent.
The Regent hopes that with the addition of 150 contract teachers, school activities, which previously had a shortage of teachers, can be filled by these contract teachers, so that school-age children in the districts and villages in Jayawijaya can get good education services.
Meanwhile, 50 teachers from Smart Indonesia will later help maximize teaching and learning activities in schools, which are not going well.
"I emphasize to these teachers, that they are contracted with the main task of providing education services for children in districts and villages, whose education services in schools are not running well, it is hoped that they will do their job well, because what they serve are younger siblings. themselves,” said Banua.
The newly recruited contract teachers are teaching staff from districts in Jayawijaya district, so that later they will be placed back in their original areas.
“This is so that they return to their villages to teach their own younger siblings. If they don't serve well, it means they don't serve their own brothers and sisters,” he said.
These contract teachers will undergo a one-year contract period and will be evaluated by the Jayawijaya local government through the education office. So for those who do not carry out their duties properly, the contract will be terminated.
“We need these teachers to support schools that are not running well. So we need those who really want to serve,” he concluded.
On the same occasion, Tinus Wetipo, a contract teacher said that he is ready to provide educational services wherever he will be placed later.
"Our decree is sent down anywhere we will be ready to serve," he said.
Tinus Wetipo is an education graduate who for four years served at a private elementary school in the Muliama District.
“Education must advance, especially elementary schools. We Papuan children can also educate our younger siblings," he said.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Regional Financial and Asset Management Agency (BPKAD) Jayawijaya Semuel Patasik reminded these contract teachers to report to themselves, if in the future the rights of the teachers were not paid properly.
"So later, the rights of the parents will be transferred directly to their respective accounts directly from the regional treasury, so there will be no deduction of a penny. If there is a cut later, report it to me," he said.
So he hopes that the rights that will be received by these contract teachers can be balanced with the obligation to carry out educational services seriously.
