Phase I Special Autonomy Funds have been transferred to 13 local governments in West Papua

Deputy Governor (Wagub) of West Papua Province, Muhamad Lakotani, conveyed the good news to indigenous Papuans in 13 districts and cities that the Special Autonomy Fund and the Infrastructure Supplementary Fund (DTI) phase I had entered the regional treasury account.
 
"For 2022, the provincial government together with the local governments of 13 districts/cities have received the first phase of the transfer of Special Autonomy and DTI funds of 30 percent starting April 22, 2022, it has been transferred through the Regional General Cash Accounts (RKDU) of each regional government," said the Deputy Governor West Papua, in Manokwari, Tuesday.
 
Therefore, said Lakotani, regional heads in 13 regencies and cities should immediately follow up on the use of 30 percent of the Otsus funds with a note that it is used to develop and answer the needs of indigenous Papuans (OAP) in each region.
 
This was emphasized by Lakotani, because so far the source of funds that the provincial government has relied on for grants, social assistance, education, and the economy has come from special autonomy funds.
 
Thus, Lakotani said that starting this year the West Papua Provincial Government will make adjustments to aid, with a percentage of the Special Autonomy budget that will be managed by the province, which is 30 percent.
 
"Grants and social assistance funds in the province will be focused on provincial-level priority programs and activities for indigenous Papuans, such as special medical education, pilots, accounting and other affirmations," said Lakotani.
 
The Deputy Governor of West Papua also socialized about changes to the arrangement, distribution and transfer of Otsus funds based on Law Number 2 of 2021 which applies to the Provinces of Papua and West Papua.
 
"That starting in 2022, the transfer of Otsus funds from the center will no longer go through the provincial government, but will be transferred directly to the regional treasury of each regency and city government by 70 percent, while 30 percent is transferred to the provincial government," said Lakotani.
