Aminggaru Airport is temporarily closed due to KKB disturbances



Aminggaru airport operations, Ilaga, Puncak Regency, Papua, Saturday (19/2) were temporarily closed after a KKB disturbance shot a member of the TNI-AU Kopasgat/Paskhas until one of them was injured.

"It is true that due to interference and shooting contact with KKB, operations at the airport were temporarily closed," said Head of the Airport Management Unit (UPBU) of Aminggaru Ilaga Airport, Herman Sujito to Antara, Saturday.

According to reports received when the gunfight occurred around the airport, three planes were ready to land, but due to security disturbances, the three planes returned to the airport of origin.

The three planes that failed to land at Aminggaru Airport were a Susi Air plane from Nabire that carried passengers and two cargo planes from Timika, namely Reven Air and Smart Air, explained Herman Sujito.

Previously, Danrem 173/PVB Brigadier General Taufan Gestoro admitted that there was a gunfight at Aminggaru Ilaga Airport, Saturday morning at around 07.30 WIT, which injured a Kopasgat/Paskhas soldier, Praka Hermansyah.

The victim is still at the Ilaga Health Center awaiting the arrival of a helicopter that will evacuate the victim to Timika.

Praka Hermansyah's condition is stable and he was hit in the right shoulder, explained Brigadier General Taufan.

Previously, on January 27, three TNI-AD soldiers died in a shootout with KKB in Gome District, Puncak Regency.

Gome District is one of the districts or sub-districts in Puncak Regency, Papua.
