The TNI-POLRI Non-Military Approach Encourages Papuans to Love the Country

A non-military approach such as fundraising is an effort that needs to be done to create a Papuan people who love the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI). This is a form of soft approach that can be taken by security forces, both TNI and Polri.

Intelligence and security observer Stanislaus Riyanta believes that the presence of both the TNI and Polri can make this happen.

“The approach to solving problems in Papua is not only with a weapons approach, but can also be a territorial approach and an intelligence approach, such as making efforts to win the hearts of the people and mobilize love for the Republic of Indonesia. The presence of the TNI in the community to help solve community problems in the fields of health, education and even infrastructure is an example of this approach," Stanislaus told Mata Indonesia News, Saturday, January 1, 2022.

The previous non-security approach was also put forward by the Army Chief of Staff (KSAD) General Dudung Abdurachman. He asked the soldiers to work professionally without hurting the Papuan people.

“People in Papua are our brothers and sisters. Everyone needs to pay attention because they don't want to violate or hurt the public," said Dudung.

Dudung also mentioned that he would tour the regions after the handover of positions. He wanted to check the professionalism of the soldiers in each area of operation.

"Especially in Papua and Poso, I will see the extent of the professionalism," said Dudung.
