Member of the Papuan People's Representative Council (DPRP) Mathea Mamoyou hopes that the inauguration of Fientje Suebu as Indonesian Ambassador to Zealand can increase a sense of nationality and love for Indonesia, especially students from Papua.
"Embrace them all and always grow a sense of love and being part of Indonesia," said Mathea Mamoyou to the media, in Jayapura, Wednesday (12/01/2022).
Mathea said the presence of Fientje Suebu as an ambassador in New Zealand who is also a “mama Papua” can embrace students and students from Papua so that they realize that he is in the country to study and remain part of the Indonesian nation from Papua.
The appointment and inauguration of Fientje Suebu is a great trust given to Papua, especially New Zealand is one of the big countries that are neighbors with Indonesia.
"There are many hopes for Mrs. Suebu as ambassador, including voicing about Indonesia in the country so that the country better understands ethnic diversity in Indonesia and thanks to President Jokowi who has given trust to Papua, especially Papuan women," said the politician from PDIP.
Members of Commission IV DPRP from electoral district III also hope that Ambassador Suebu can open up business opportunities, especially for coffee farmers by introducing coffee from Papua.
"Hopefully coffee from Papua can enter and be marketed in New Zealand," said Mathea Mamoyou.
Meanwhile, Papuan woman activist Sofia Maipauw Kilmanum separately expressed her pride in the trust and responsibility of the country that was placed on the shoulders of Fientje Suebu who was appointed as Ambassador of New Zealand.
As women, we hope that from his experience, Ambassador Fientje Suebu can make an important contribution to the country according to his duties and responsibilities.
"With this trust, it is hoped that it will encourage cooperation in the economic and tourism fields, and can provide direct benefits to women in Indonesia," hoped Popy, Sofia's nickname.
