So KKB Hunting Troops Replace the Nemangkawi Task Force, Here's How the Cartenz Peace Operation Works

The National Police plans to replace the Nemangkawi Task Force operation with the Cartenz Peace Operation, to hunt down the Armed Criminal Group (KKB).

It is known that the Nemangkawi Task Force's operation, which plays a role in hunting down KKB, will end on January 25, 2022.

Instead, the National Police will implement an operation with a new codename, Operation Peaceful Cartenz.

Operation Peace Cartenz will serve for the next six months to hunt down KKB.

Changing the password, of course, also changes the way it works.

In pursuing the KKB, Operation Peaceful Cartenz will prioritize intelligence and community development.

"Yes, that's right, the Nemangkawi Task Force (changed its name) to Damai Cartenz," said the Head of the Public Relations Division of the National Police Inspector General Dedi Prasetyo when confirmed, Monday (10/1/2022)

As quoted from Tribunnews.com in the article 'The Nemangkawi Task Force Ends, Now Changes its Name to the Cartenz Peace Operation'.

Dedi said that the Damai Cartenz operation would last for the next 6 months.

After the operation period, the operation will be re-evaluated by the Police.

"Yes, that's right, until the next 6 months, it will be reviewed again. Later, the soft approach will be prioritized and the Papuan people's welfare approach," explained Dedi.

Meanwhile, Karo Penmas, Police Public Relations Division, Brigadier General Ahmad Ramadhan, added that the Damai Cartenz operation would prioritize the functions of intelligence and community development rather than law enforcement.

"The way of acting put forward in Operation Cartenz Peace is persuasive and preemptive.

By prioritizing intelligence functions, community development functions, and public relations functions with the support of other functions. Preventive, sabhara, and takkum functions. So the Gakkum is a supporting function," he said.

Impact of 53 KKB Papua Surrender

Meanwhile, the number of members of the Papuan armed criminal group (KKB) who surrendered and returned to the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI) was appreciated by President Jokowi.

President Jokowi plans to meet the former KKB members who have surrendered.

This was revealed by the Papuan Police Chief Inspector General Pol Mathius Fakhiri recently in Jayapura.

"It is true that the President some time ago stated that he was willing to meet the former KKB who was aware and wanted to work with his brother to develop the region," said Kapolda Fakhiri, quoted from the Kompas TV page, Saturday (12/25/2021).
