The South Papua Province Expansion Team (PPS) continues to move so that the central government can immediately accelerate the expansion of South Papua Province.
The PPS team led by Thomas Eppe Safanto and his entourage submitted 4 documents to Commission II of the DPR RI, DPD, and the Ministry of Home Affairs, Monday (12/13/2021).
PPS Team Leader Thomas Eppe Safanpo said that the Commission II secretariat received the document in Commission II of the DPR RI.
"Later, a meeting with the leadership and members of Commission II of the DPR RI will be scheduled in January," said Thomas in Jakarta, Monday.
The document was also submitted to the DPD RI which was received directly by the Deputy Chairperson of the DPD RI Nono Sampono.
In addition, the PPS Team also met with the Director General of Regional Autonomy (Otda) of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Akmal Malik, to submit the document.
"Mr. Dr. General's agenda is solid but he took the time to receive us in approximately 1 hour," said Thomas, who is also the Deputy Regent of Asmat.
According to Thomas, the 4 documents submitted included the administrative requirements for the formation of the province of South Papua from four regencies, namely Mappi, Merauke, Boven Digoel and Asmat.
Then, the academic document documents that were done by the PPS Team and UGM.
Furthermore, the document for determining the academic study regarding the determination of the capital city of South Papua Province.
Lastly, the draft law on the expansion of the South Papua Province.
"If this bill is discussed in the DPR later, the draft that we have compiled can be used as a comparison in the DPR and the government later," said Thomas.
Thomas added that according to the plan, the document would also be submitted to KSP, Kemenkumham and Kemenkopolhukam.
Previously, said Thomas, on November 24, 2021, the PPS Team had submitted the same document to the Governor of Papua, the DPR and the Papuan MRP which were received directly by the leaders.
"This is a follow-up action scheduled for January. We will meet again with Commission II. We will immediately meet with the Minister of Home Affairs who will facilitate meetings with 4 districts of South Papua," concluded Thomas.
