The local government has begun to make efforts to carry out transformations in all fields in Manokwari Regency, which is also the face of West Papua Province.
The reason is, this area is the capital of the province which is located in the bird's head of the island of Papua.
The Regent of Manokwari, Hermus Indou, said that as the capital of the province, Manokwari is about to transform.
"We have to transform, including infrastructure in Manokwari," said Indou as quoted from tribunnews.com Tuesday (12/13/2021).
He said, for the infrastructure to be built in the provincial capital, not just the ordinary ones.
"The infrastructure to be built in Manokwari, West Papua, must present the authority of the state in this area," he said.
"We want to build Papua as an integrated part of the Republic of Indonesia," he said.
So, he said, if in Manokwari, something big will be presented (infrastructure), then the people will be proud of the country.
"Manokwari and West Papua, in general, have been defending Indonesia to the death," added Indou.
Meanwhile, Jayapura and its surroundings have even asked for independence, but many things have been done in Papua.
"We in West Papua, so far we can't get anything dignified here," he said.
Supposedly, regions that still value the state more should be given their share.
He added that the plans for the construction of bridges and road alliteration could be carried out for the next three years.
So, it can be one of the strategic roads in the capital city of West Papua Province, and will be carried out in stages.
"For this development we need funds of around 1 trillion, according to the calculations of friends at the Road Hall," he said.
The construction of bridges and alliteration roads in Manokwari, is targeted to be operational from 2024 to 2025.
Not only that, the construction of bridges and road alliteration in Manokwari, will later become an icon in West Papua.
"This will become a tourist destination for visitors from outside Manokwari, and people will come just to take photos at the place," said Indou.
Later, with the presence of bridges and road alliteration in Manokwari, it will also have an impact on increasing the economy for the people in this area.
With the icon in the provincial capital, it will attract people to visit Manokwari.
In addition, Deputy I of the Presidential Staff Office Heslon Siagian admitted that he was interested in the program made by the Manokwari Regency government.
Later, Manokwari Regency will have a ring road.
"The location will later become the district's business place," he said.
Not only the bridge, the government of Manokwari Regency, will rebuild the Sanggeng Central Market, and is currently being processed by the central government.
"If all these programs are realized, the slums in Manokwari City will disappear," he said.
The plan is that the Sanggeng Central Market will be built into a Modern Market. Later, all the items will be there.
"So he will make it easier for people to transact, as well as beautify the City of Manokwari," he said.
"For me, building Manokwari is the same as building Indonesia," he added.
