Kodim 1809 Maybrat repatriated 100 refugees to Kisor Village, South Aifat District, Maybrat Regency, West Papua, Friday 24 December 2021.
The pastor of Kodim 1809/Maybrat, Captain Arh Untung Wiyono, said these 100 refugees were residents who had moved after the attack on the Kisor Posramil that killed 4 TNI soldiers.
One hundred refugees are spread over three villages in the Maybrat area. "There are 85 residents in Kroom Village, 9 residents in Kumurkek Village and 6 residents in Fategomi Village," said Untung in a written statement, Friday, December 24, 2021.
Previously, said Untung, the Maybrat Kodim had coordinated and collected data on the refugees. In addition to providing transportation, the Maybrat Kodim also mobilized personnel to fix the places where the refugees were left behind.
Refugees Celebrate Christmas in the Village
"This is an order from Dandim Maybrat to make a breakthrough in returning refugees, and following up on the directions and statements of the XVIII/Kasuari Commander (Major General TNI I Nyoman Cantiasa) some time ago that the Kisor area is safe," said Untung.
He appealed to the entire community to carry out activities as usual and celebrate Christmas with their families. "The area is currently safe, so there is no need to worry about returning to their respective homes to worship, gather with family and celebrate Christmas, because they are guarded by TNI and Polri officers," said Untung.
In the same vein, the Head of the Maybrat Land Service, Yustus Waiber, said that the people of Kampung Kisor do not need to be afraid to move, because the area is conducive.
“We urge refugees to return to their homes to welcome Christmas and the new year. There is no need to worry, there are TNI and Polri officers who will guard it," said Yustus.
