Government Trains Papuan Youth, Papuan Youth Leaders: Momentum to Increase Economic Recovery

The government has made various efforts and strategic steps in improving the quality of Human Resources (HR) of the Papuan people.

Among them are implementing training programs for young Papuan and West Papuans to become millennial farmers and world-class entrepreneurs.

This has received a positive response from the Papuan Youth Leader, Steve Mara, who for him is not only able to improve the abilities of young Papuans.

However, it has a very good impact on economic recovery after being affected by Covid for now and in the future.

Steve Mara is one of the young Papuans who is interested in diplomacy, has attended national and international conferences several times.

He was once trusted to be the Chairperson of the World Trade Organization (WTO) Committee at the C-7 World Economy and Business Conference in Uzbekistan.

"The training of millennial farmers and entrepreneurs organized by the central government in collaboration with Inspirational Young Papua, I think should be appreciated and maintained for the sake of improving the quality of human resources. In addition, as a momentum for the economic recovery of Papua and West Papua," Steve Mara said in his statement, Thursday ( 25/11/2021).

In addition, he continued, the government's concern for Papua is the implementation of the XX National Sports Week (PON) and the XVI National Paralympic Week (Peparnas). According to him, the two major events have had an impact on the economic growth of the community.

"We are happy because Papua became a successful host for the XX PON and Papernas XVI events. Although the event was national in scale and involved many people, it did not have a significant effect on the increase in Covid-19 cases because of the discipline of implementing good health procedures. It even had a good impact on the economy Papuan people," he said.

According to him, all the policies issued by the current government towards Papua are a manifestation of President Joko Widodo's concern and pity for Papuans.

Including at this time by appointing Billy Mambrasar who is from Papua to the special staff of the president, it shows the government's concern.

"With the appointment of Billy Mambrasar as special staff for the president, one of his roles is as a friend of President Jokowi's discussion of innovative ideas. Then the ideas generated can be distributed to the Papuan people, and continuously provide assistance to ensure the program is implemented properly," he said. .

"The success of various programs for Papua certainly cannot be separated from the role of Billy Mambrasar who is a special staff of the president from Papua. This is a gift for us Papuans, so we are really getting more attention," he concluded.

In addition, Bank Indonesia representatives from the Papua Province stated that the economic growth in Papua in the third quarter of 2021 was the highest in Indonesia.

Head of Bank Indonesia representative of Papua Province, Naek Tigor Sinaga at the annual meeting of Bank Indonesia explained that in the third quarter of 2021, the Papuan economy grew by around 14.54 percent, far above the national growth of only 3.51 percent.

He believes that with the cooperation of all parties, economic growth in the fourth quarter is optimistic that it can still increase again. Naek said Papua's economic growth was a momentum for economic recovery in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic.

“Unexpectedly, Papua's economic growth is the highest in Indonesia. Papua's economic growth has increased, one of which is the existence of PON and Peparnas and also from the mining sector. This is also due to the good cooperation between Bank Indonesia, the Papua Provincial Government and the district/city governments,” he explained.
