The government of Puncak Regency received a grant from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (Energi Sumber Daya Mineral), namely PLTMH (Micro Hydro Power Plant) and PJU (Public Street Lighting) in Ilaga, the capital city of Puncak Regency.
The handover of assets took place in the EBTKE ESDM room in Jakarta, Friday (10/22/2021) by the Director General of New, Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation (EBTKE), the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, RI, Dr. Ir Dadan Kusdiana, M,Sc and received by the Regent of Puncak Willem Wandik, SE ,M,Si.
MHP Ilaga was built in 2016 and inaugurated by the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Arifin Tasrif in December 2019. MHP is an Indonesian program from President Joko Widodo through the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, one of which was built in Puncak Regency, Papua.
The construction of the PLTMH costs Rp. 94 billion and has a power of 700 KW from two turbines, each with a power of 350 KW.
"We would like to thank the regent for being able to attend in the context of the handover of the grant of state property, in the form of a micro hydro power plant, the value of which is very extraordinary, reaching more than Rp. 94 billion," said Director General of EBTKE Dadan Kusdiana.
Dadan Kusdiana hopes that with the handover of the Ilaga PLTMH grant, the Puncak Regency Government can continue to maintain it, and can be used for the needs of the people of Puncak, Ilaga, Gome and surrounding areas, especially for basic electricity needs.
"The presence of the Ilaga PLTMH is a form of cooperation between the central and regional governments, which has proven to be very helpful for the people in Puncak Regency in Papua," he said.
Meanwhile, Puncak Regent Willem Wandik, SE, M, Si, representing the Puncak community, expressed his gratitude and appreciation to President Joko Widodo and the Minister of BPSDM for their concern in bringing the PLTMH in Puncak Regency.
The existence of PLTMH in Ilaga, said the Regent of Wandik, will reduce the cost of fuel in Puncak which has been used for power generation.
"Before there was a PLTMH every year from the Puncak APBD, Rp 15 billion was allocated for fuel procurement, but with the presence of this PLTMH, the Regency Government has reduced the need for fuel to Rp 1 billion for one year," he explained.
It is said, since operating in 2019, the presence of the PLTMH has been felt by the community and after being handed over, all operations are the responsibility of the Regional Government.
"Today we officially receive this grant, it's just that we have minimal human resources, so the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, the Director General, don't forget us, there are technical matters that we need, please help," added the Wandik Regent.
The regent said, regarding the management of the Ilaga PLTMH, the regional government has explored cooperation with PLN, because they have professional staff who can operate and maintain so that the PLTMH can serve the needs of the community, even if possible in the future it can become a source of revenue for the Puncak district.
