Big Bonus for Medal Winning Athletes at PON Papua

Big bonuses in various amounts are promises made by each region for medal-winning athletes at the 2020 Papua National Sports Week (PON).

Bonuses are considered as an additional motivation for athletes to achieve the best performance. In fact, the amount of the bonus is also a prestige of its own.

At the 2020 PON event, the host Papua targets 84 gold medals from a total of 945 athletes who enter the contingent. Not only that, Papua is also an area that promises the largest amount of bonuses for its athletes who won medals.

Papua Governor Lukas Enembe said that the individual gold winner will be rewarded with a bonus of IDR 1 billion and IDR 650 million for gold in the team number. Meanwhile, Papuan athletes who won silver medals in the individual category were promised a bonus of IDR 500 million and IDR 325 million per athlete for team silver and IDR 250 million for individual bronze medalists and IDR 162.5 million for team bronze.

As reported by Indonesia.go.id, Lukas also promised a bonus of Rp. 10 million for athletes who have fought for Papua but have not been able to get medals. It was done solely to be able to raise the spirits of Papuan athletes who will fight in PON.

On the other hand, the Governor of the Riau Islands, Ansar Ahmad, gave a price of IDR 350 million for his athletes who won gold medals at the 2020 PON Papua. However, the amount that will be awarded to the silver and bronze winners has not yet been stated.

From West Nusa Tenggara, Governor Zulkieflimansyah said he was ready to disburse a bonus of Rp. 300 million for medal-winning athletes. In fact, the Mataram City Government is said to provide an additional bonus of Rp. 100 million for athletes from that city who won gold.

Not only monetary bonuses, West Sumatra Deputy Governor Audy Joinaldy promised medal-winning athletes in Bumi Cendrawasih with a bonus of Rp. 200 million plus decent work. Of course, this job can be the answer to the uncertainty of the future after an athlete retires.
