Joint TNI-Polri officers arrested 5 suspected attackers at the Ramil Kisor Post, South Aifat District, Maybrat Regency, which resulted in the death of 4 TNI members.
The Head of Public Relations of the West Papua Police, Kombes Police Ada Erwindi said that of the 5 suspects arrested, 3 were DPOs, and 2 were new suspects.
"The 3 people who were detained were DPO status which we had previously determined. Meanwhile, the other 2 people were new suspects. After being secured and examined, it turned out that they were both also involved in the attack," said the Head of Public Relations, Thursday (30/9).
Adam explained that the three DPOs were Robi Yaam, Amos KI and Agus Yaam. Meanwhile, the two new suspects are Yakobus Worait and Luke KI.
"Jakobus Worait was arrested on September 27 by a joint team at the Klamono border, Sorong. Following are other suspects who were detained in Kokas Village, South Sorong and in Morait Village, Maybrat," he explained.
The police, said Adam, are still hunting for 14 other DPOs who attacked the Kisor Posramil in Maybrat, including Manfred Fatem and the head of the KNPB for the Kisor sector, Silas KI.
"We again urge the DPOs to immediately surrender. There is no place for you. The officers will continue to pursue them," he added.
As is known, the South Sorong Police have named 17 names on the DPO regarding the attack on the Kisor Koramil Post, in South Aifat District, Maybrat Regency, West Papua.
Kapendam XVIII Kasuari, Colonel Hendra Pesireron, said that the motive for the attack on the Kisor Koramil Post was because it was stifling with the presence of the TNI.
Moreover, said Hendra, the presence of TNI soldiers there was well received by the local community. So it is suspected that this triggered the attack from the separatist group.
"Getting a warm and positive response from the community and those who have done for the community," said Hendra.
