Residents of the Papua-PNG Border Get Cataract Operation Assistance by the TNI

Soldiers from the TNI Pamtas Task Force Battalion 131/Brs assisted in cataract surgery for a traditional leader named Philip (64) at the RI-PNG border, to be precise in Mosso Village, Muara Tami District, Jayapura City, Papua.

The Commander of the RI-PNG Pamtas Task Force (Dansatgas) Infantry Battalion 131/Brs Lt. Col. Inf Muhammad Erfani in a statement received by ANTARA on Tuesday said that initially the Pamtas Battalion 131/Brs Task Force received information from the Mosso Danpos that there was a fostered resident from Mosso Village who had 10 years suffered from cataracts and needed surgery but was constrained by administrative problems and costs.

"In response to this condition, I immediately ordered the Indonesian Pamtas Task Force Doctor-PNG Infantry Battalion 131/Brs to assist in the treatment process for Mr. Philip by coordinating with the hospital and related agencies," said the Dansatgas.

Furthermore, the Doctor of Battalion Battalion 131/Brs Lettu CKM dr. Muhammad Hendra Rizki together with the task force health personnel took care of Philip's administrative process by coordinating with related parties and the Jayapura Regional Hospital.

Dansatgas expressed its gratitude because it took less than five days for the entire administrative process to be completed and the operation could run safely and smoothly.

“We always accompany him, starting from going to the hospital, during the operation to returning home. This is a tangible manifestation of the presence of the TNI in helping to overcome the difficulties experienced by the community," said Dansatgas.

Meanwhile, Philip expressed his gratitude to the TNI personnel who have helped realize his wish for a long time.

Philip admitted that after the operation he was now able to read, see, talk to his family and neighbors.

“I can now even go back to work in the garden without having any vision problems,” he said.

Philip admitted that he was really touched and happy for the assistance from the TNI who had helped provide security in his village which was on the border.

"The presence of the TNI Task Force gives happiness and peace to the residents, especially those who are willing to help the difficulties that I have experienced so far," said Philip.
