The Kabaintelkam of the National Police, Komjen Pol Paulus Waterpauw, appealed to maximize the Covid-19 vaccination in Papua, to prevent the spread of new clusters after PON XX Papua.
This was conveyed by Kabaintekam Polri Komjen Pol Paulus Waterpauw during the National Dialogue with religious, community, customary, youth and women leaders, and associations in Jayapura City, Thursday 9 September 2021.
‘Papua is hosting PON and we all have to prevent new clusters. We want residents scattered in 4 locations of PON Papua to immediately vaccinate,'' he explained.
Waterpauw said, if a person has received a vaccination, it can increase the body's immune system which can fight the Covid-19 virus, so that it does not cause fatal effects.
Vaccine Hoax
Waterpauw confirmed that currently there are still hoax issues circulating in the community, for example vaccines to destroy certain races and make many people reluctant to get vaccinated.
“In fact, vaccination is carried out all over the world, not only in Indonesia or Papua. The goal is for the local community to form herd immunity and residents' activities can run normally. So, it is not true that there is an issue of developing a vaccine to destroy certain ethnicities," he said.
Currently, vaccination I in Papua has reached 33.77 percent of the 208,265,720 vaccination target. While the second stage of vaccination reached 19.38 percent or around 40,362,820 doses.
