PLN ensures that the readiness of electricity infrastructure has reached 97 percent progress to support the XX PON event in Timika.
This preparation leaves the work of installing the Three Way LBS to ensure the reliability of the electricity supply for the Tarung Drajat, judo, billiards and PON secretariat venues. This work is targeted to be completed by the end of July 2021.
As an effort to improve the reliability of the electrical system, it is planned that each venue will be supplied by two electricity supply lines. In addition, PLN has also prepared generators and Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) at each venue to secure electricity supply so that activities can run smoothly.
“In principle, from the electrical side, we are ready. We also continue to coordinate with local governments to help each other regarding the obstacles during the construction of this electricity infrastructure," said PLN Manager for Timika's Customer Service Implementation Unit (UP3), Martinus Pasensi.
Meanwhile, the current supply of power from PLTD Timika and PLTMG Timika is confirmed to be sufficient. A total of 35.3 MW of power can be generated by the two plants with a peak load of 25.6 MW and leaving a power reserve of 9.7 MW.
“This July, we plan to conduct a disturbance simulation in one of the feeders or both. This is done as a form of prevention as well as anticipation if things happen that are not desirable. With the existing readiness, PLN hopes that this national event can be successful and go according to plan," said Martinus.
Several sports will be held in Mimika Regency, including futsal, handball, billiards, aeromodelling, rock climbing, judo, fighting drajat, basketball, athletics, and kite flying. A total of 9 venues will be used for these matches.
