Chairman II of the Grand Committee of the National Sports Week (PB PON) Roi Letlora ensured that Boaz Solossa was still an ambassador for PON 2020 Papua even though he had been officially released by Persipura Jayapura.
Roi said the release of Boaz by Persipura was a club policy that had nothing to do with his position as an PON ambassador.
"The club released Boci's brother [Boaz's nickname] with technical considerations and whatever Persipura has taken. But as an ambassador for PON regardless of his position and whatever his position, he continues to carry out his duties as an ambassador," explained Roi to CNNIndonesia.com, Tuesday (6/7). ).
Roi explained, as an ambassador for PON, Boaz is a figure who has a name and is well known. Therefore, he was given a special task by PB PON to disseminate information on the implementation of PON 2020 in Papua.
"He [Boaz] must also carry out socialization of Papua itself. We must pack it up like its natural wealth, Papuan culture and Papua's creative economy, all of which must be lifted. PON is a momentum to introduce Papua more broadly," he said.
Roi also believes that Boaz's task as an ambassador for Papua PON would not interfere with previous activities with Persipura. Especially in the conditions of the Covid-19 pandemic, there are many program activities that have changed from the plans that were made 2-3 years earlier.
For example, the torch relay or torch relay, which was supposed to be a mandatory activity for an PON ambassador, was canceled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
"We have arranged the schedule between Boci, Persipura and PB PON long ago with the management. There is a limited time connection with regards to Persipura's match schedule and practice. It is impossible for us to disturb Persipura's practice or match. So PB PON adjusts to Persipura's schedule "explained Roy.

Previously, it was reported that Persipura officially released Boaz for disciplinary reasons on Monday (5/7) night. Besides Boaz, Persipura also kicked out Yustinus Pae, as stated by the Mutiara Hitam team management through an official release on Instagram social media.
Persipura General Chair Benhur Tomi Mano said his party released Boaz and Yustinus Pae because of disciplinary problems.
"They are our children and our younger siblings. This is purely management policy and input from the coaches for violations or disciplinary actions," said Benhur Tomi Mano, Chairman of Persipura in an official release.
