PB PON XX Papua 2021 and BPJS Employment signed a memorandum of agreement regarding safety guarantees for 10,000 athletes, officials and coaches from all over the country, who will compete in PON XX Papua 2021.
The memorandum of agreement was signed by the Secretary General of PB PON XX Papua 2021, Elia I Loupatty and the Head of the Papua Branch of BPJS Employment, I Ketut Arja Leksana at the Horison Hotel, Kotaraja, Jayapura, Friday (2/7/2021).
Loupatty said the safety guarantee from BPJS Ketenagakerjaan was given to all athletes, officials and coaches, because they are the core of the 2021 PON XX Papua competition.
“This is very important to do, so that there is a guarantee for them for two months to participate in PON. So, since they arrived in Papua, their safety has been guaranteed, if they are injured or die,” he said.
However, he hopes that because there is already a guarantee, then things happen that we don't want.
"We also need to take care of this part. This also remains part of the responsibility of PB PON, so that all athletes, officials and coaches do not need to hesitate, because we as hosts are ready to serve seriously, "he added.
Meanwhile, I Ketut Arja Leksana said that his party was ready to provide guarantees to athletes, officials and coaches with two programs, namely work accident and death insurance for official athletes and coaches, both during training and competing.
He explained that the protection given to athletes, officials and coaches had started since they left for Papua.
According to him, the guarantee for the safety of athletes, officials and coaches at PON XX Papua 2021 has been implemented since September and October.
"So in August, if the data has been given to us, we will immediately verify it, so that September and October have been registered," he explained.
It is known that PON XX Papua 2021 will be held on October 2-15, 2021. This national sports event will be held in four clusters, namely Jayapura City, Jayapura Regency, Mimika Regency and Merauke Regency.
