The Sub-Committee of the National Sports Week (PON) together with the Public Relations of Media Service Broadcasting (PPM) PB PON verified journalists who were candidates for covering the XX PON event in the Mimika cluster, Papua.
The verification coincided with the Coordination Meeting held in the Mimika PON Sub PB Secretariat Meeting Room, Monday (31/5/21).
Deputy Head of Public Relations of Mimika Sub-PB, Yohanis Nussy, said that the verification process for the media and journalist crew was still ongoing. So far, the verification has been around 90 percent.
“Today we have verified to accommodate all media and journalists, initially there were only 19 media. But so far the verification process has targeted 90 percent of the media and journalists in Mimika," said Nussy.
Nussy said that all media that will be involved in the implementation of PON XX in the Mimika cluster will be verified according to the SOP.
"The media that will be involved, both in collaboration and the media that will expose and those we use will be recorded and verified according to the SOP," he explained.
Deputy Secretary IV for Public Relations and PPM, Kadkis Matdoan hopes that registration and verification to get an id card should be completed by next week.
“If it is not complete, it will affect the budget determination for Mimika because the time is running out. There are some things that do require funds so that this area must be resolved quickly. What is clear is for the media and journalists involved, of course there is cooperation. Media is a business, apart from participating in reporting, there is still a business side to it. They work and need to be paid. Media work should not be underestimated. This is for the success of PON XX in Papua," he said.
Kadkis also said that journalists who will be involved in reporting on PON XX, apart from being verified, should also receive technical guidance according to the specified requirements.
“If the journalists want to be in the technical guidance, then we think it will be even better. Because that's one of the main requirements to get a barcode PON XX ID card. And Mimika journalists can also cover the other 3 clusters. PPM PR is not only a news writer, but also serves other contingents. Including accommodating press conferences and others related to communication," he concluded.
