The Papua Special Autonomy Fund Provides Extraordinary Benefits

The Special Autonomy Policy (Otsus) has provided tremendous benefits for the Papuan people. Especially with a good aim, namely to improve the acceleration of development and prosperity in Papua.

Senior Advisor on Papua Issues, Michael Manufandu, emphasized that the effectiveness of the distribution of Special Autonomy funds be increased so that efforts to create welfare for the Papuan people can be realized perfectly.

"Yes, it means if you say it will go down in March, not in May, don't keep it," said Michael Manufandu to Mata Indonesia News, Monday, April 12, 2021.

However, so far Michael assessed the benefits of the Special Autonomy Fund for the community.

"It is difficult to explain, to see, but it can be felt," said Michael.

Meanwhile, Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) Tito Karnavian emphasized that the aspirations of the Papuan people must be considered because Otsus is based on the spirit of building the welfare of indigenous Papuans as a priority.

So, Tito also emphasized that the Special Committee should work within the corridors of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia.

"Apart from absorbing aspirations, and also staying in the corridors of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia, and we hope that this revision of the upcoming law will become a platform to accelerate development in Papua," said Tito.
